At Skandino, we respect the preservation of life and the environment in all its forms. We are committed to reducing the use of fossil-based plastics on our planet. That’s why all Skandino products are made using a new, eco-friendly and FDA-approved biomaterial.
The material used in Skandino® products is a biomaterial made from natural raw materials, with 94% bio-based content.
Replacing fossil-based plastics with bio-based materials
Bio-based materials are gradually replacing traditional fossil-based materials in a wide range of products. The use of bio-based materials can significantly reduce the carbon footprint, often by up to 80%.
Our material composition includes:
- 58–63% sugarcane-derived bio-PE
- 35–40% wood fiber biomass sourced from certified Nordic forests
- Max. 6% durability-enhancing binders
The wood used in the material utilizes by-products from pulp and wood production processes, helping to maximize the use of raw materials without additional tree harvesting for our products.
This bio-based material has been developed in collaboration with leading Nordic wood and biomaterial industry partners.
